Exhaust fumes… there’s not much you can do about all the particles swirling around in the air outside, but Blueair’s Blue Pure 221 Air Purifier gives you all the control you could want when you come home and shut the door. Its powerful filtration technology removes all kinds of particles and pollutants, so you can breathe just that little bit easier.

What’s in the box

• Blue Pure 221 air purifier – designed to work in rooms up to 50m Sq., it has 3 fan speeds from whisper-quiet low to slightly-louder high for fast removal of pollutants; 360° air intake, and a single control button so it’s really easy to use.
• Two washable fabric pre-filters – one blue and one dark grey stretchy ‘sleeve’ that wraps round the outside of the purifier and traps larger particles, helping to extend the life of the main filter.
• Unique HEPASilent™ Filtration Technology with Activated Carbon Sheet – removes at least 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 microns in size. And with the Activated Carbon Sheet it will effectively remove dust, pollen, pet dander, dust mites, bacteria, mould spores, some airborne viruses, VOCs, odours, smoke and airborne chemicals. Replacement filters are available when the one in the box comes to the end of its 6-month life (the built-in LED will glow red when it needs to be changed).

Super-efficient and super-easy to use

Designed for rooms up to 50m Sq. (there’s a more compact, less powerful model available for smaller spaces), it draws in air from every direction, so it works just as well wherever it’s positioned. It’s powerful enough to completely clean the air five times an hour, but so efficient it uses very little electricity – about as much as a traditional light bulb. And you can forget about adjusting settings and knobs – a single button on the side controls it all, and lets you know when it’s time to replace the main filter, too.

Less is more

When it comes to air, the less ‘stuff’ it has in it, the better. Blueair’s world-leading filter technology catches virtually every airborne contaminant: the HEPASilent™ Filtration Technology removes particles like dust, pollen, pet dander, allergens, mould, bacteria, even some viruses (down to 0.1 micrometres; some of them are even smaller than that); and the activated carbon filter takes care of gaseous pollutants like smoke, exhaust fumes, VOCs, odours and airborne chemicals.

How it clears the air (the science bit)

It’s a 3-step process. First, the fabric pre-filter catches the large particles like hair and dust mites. Then the main filter captures the smaller particles, using electrostatic charging so they’re more likely to be attracted by the filter. Next, the Activated Carbon absorbs VOCs and gases; and finally, clean air is released back into the room.

Sleep easy

Would a whisper keep you awake? Operating at a whisper-quiet 31 decibels on the lowest fan setting, it’s quiet enough to ensure that most of us will still get a good night’s sleep.
